Tocopherol is a lipid-soluble form of vitamin E naturally derived from plant oils. It is one of the most extensively studied antioxidants in dermatology and plays a critical role in protecting cell membranes from oxidative damage. Because it resides in the lipid phase of the skin, tocopherol specifically protects fatty acids within the barrier from peroxidation, a process that accelerates dryness, inflammation, and visible aging.

Vitamin E does more than defend. It works synergistically with other antioxidants, including vitamin C and polyphenols, to strengthen the skin’s overall defense network.
